To fully utilize 0xio, it helps to understand the unique architecture of the network it powers: Octra.

What is Octra?

Octra is a Layer-1 blockchain network distinguished by its use of Hypergraph Fully Homomorphic Encryption (HFHE). Unlike traditional blockchains where transparency is mandatory, Octra enables privacy while maintaining decentralized verification.

Key Concepts

  • Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE): Traditional encryption requires you to decrypt data to process it (exposing it to potential leaks). FHE allows the network to perform calculations on encrypted data without ever decrypting it. The result remains encrypted, and only you (the key holder) can decrypt the final state.
  • Compute-Coupled Validation: Instead of solving arbitrary hash puzzles (like Bitcoin’s Proof-of-Work), Octra validators utilize their computing power to process actual FHE tasks. They are rewarded for executing useful encrypted computations that advance the network state.
  • Isolated Execution Environments (Circles): Octra allows developers to run “Circles”: independent execution environments that function similarly to private servers on the blockchain, isolating state for performance and privacy.

How 0xio Fits In

0xio acts as the Client-Side Encryption & Signing Layer for Octra. Because Octra relies on FHE, data must be encrypted before it leaves your device. If raw data were sent to the network, privacy would be compromised.
  1. Local Encryption & Signing: When you initiate a transaction, 0xio encrypts the payload locally using your specific encryption keys and Octra’s public parameters. It then signs the transaction with your private key to prove authority without revealing the data.
  2. Broadcasting: The encrypted blob (ciphertext) is signed and sent to the Octra network.
  3. Encrypted Execution: Octra validators process the state change (e.g., updating a balance) on the encrypted data. They verify the transaction’s validity mathematically without ever seeing the plaintext amounts.
  4. Decryption: You use your 0xio wallet to view your new balance. The wallet decrypts the on-chain state locally to reveal the numbers to you.

0xio Security Specs

0xio is designed with strict client-side security standards to ensure non-custodial safety.
0xio is an independent project built by community developers. It is not owned by, nor formally affiliated with, Octra Labs, ensuring a separation between the network and the toolset.
