Receiving Private Transfers

Private (stealth) transfers require a claim step: the sender posts an encrypted stealth output that only you can detect, and you claim it into your private balance.

Why Claiming Exists

This design:
  • Lets only the recipient detect and decrypt incoming stealth outputs
  • Gives recipients control over when the claim fee is paid
  • Allows recipients to validate transfers before claiming

Claiming Process

Open the Privacy Screen

Go to the Privacy screen (Encrypt / Decrypt / Claim) in your wallet.

Scan for Pending

Run the stealth scan. The wallet checks recent outputs and reports live progress (for example, “Scanning 80/150 outputs”); detected transfers appear in the Claim list.

Click Claim

Click “Claim” next to a pending transfer (or claim all at once).

Confirm

Confirm and sign. A network fee applies for the decryption and state update.

Credited

Funds move to your Private Balance after confirmation.

  • Why: Claiming runs decryption and writes a state update on-chain

  2. See sender addresses
  3. View amounts and timestamps

Save addresses that frequently send you funds:
  1. Go to Settings > Address Book
  2. Click “Add Contact”
  3. Enter name and address
  4. Add notes (optional)

Security

Never share your private key or recovery phrase!Only share your public wallet address (oct...). Anyone asking for your private key or recovery phrase is trying to steal your funds.

When receiving large amounts:
  1. Verify address through multiple channels
  2. Send a small test amount first
  3. Confirm receipt before large transfer
  4. Double-check address character-by-character

Privacy Considerations

For Public Transfers:
  • Sender can see your current balance
  • Transaction amount is visible to everyone
  • Consider using a dedicated public address
For Private Transfers:
  • Sender only knows your address
  • Amount is encrypted
  • Your balance remains confidential
Pro Tip: For recurring private payments (like salary), create a dedicated address to organize your finances while maintaining privacy.

Troubleshooting

”I sent funds but don’t see them”

  1. Check transaction status on block explorer
  2. Wait for confirmations (up to 30 seconds during congestion)
  3. Verify correct address was used
  4. Check if it’s a private transfer requiring claim
  5. Refresh your balance manually

”Private transfer isn’t showing”

  1. Go to the Privacy screen and open the Claim tab
  2. Run the stealth scan
  3. Wait for the wallet to query the blockchain
  4. Claim any found transfers

”Address rejected as invalid”

  • Ensure address starts with oct
  • Verify exactly 47 characters
  • Check for typos or extra spaces
  • Try copying directly from sender
